Story telescope
Every story printed in at least two newspapers of this archive, 1770–1810. The further away, the earlier. Version 1
Brightest stories in view
Matched stories were found automatically by shared wording across newspapers and are not checked against the scans; a match can join neighbouring items, and printings in damaged transcriptions are missed. Reviewed stories were read and checked; a reviewed story usually also appears as a matched star. Search looks at each story's title and the opening words of its first printing, not every word of every page. Topics come from the project's provisional 24-topic model. Everything follows the surviving archive: where few papers survive there are few stars, which is a gap in the collection, not proof that nothing was printed. How stories are found.
